Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. - Malcolm X
As an educator, for me it is important to make learning enjoyable, valuable, and accessible to the student. Most of the subjects that I teach requires student to practice and have some hands on activities. I prefer my students to implement and practice the real life case based on the real life scenario.
I teach student not just based on the textbook, I unite them from the projects that I have developed or from my past experiences, as an auditor, accountant, system developer, web designer, online trader, entreprenuer, postman, store assistant etc. It would be more easy to express the subject using examples from the reality. I have passion on what I do and it is my goal to remain energetic and excited about the subject and relay this enthusiasm to my students. I choose projects and subjects for discussion based on what I determine to be interesting to the current group of students.
It is also important to invent a creative and stimulating learning environment for the student. During my courses, I treat my students as auditor in the auditing class, as an data scientist in the database class, or as programmer in programming class. I seek to involve the student in a variety of ways, rather than just lecturing. I like to surprise my students with quizes requiring their full participation and make sure that they are ready and understand about the subject they previously learnt.
I do implemented Blended and Green Learning. All of the learning materials are available online such as in UUM Online Learning, FB Groups, and Blogs. All of the assignments also must be submitted online as part of the campaign to save our planet.
Do… or do not. There is no try.
"Luke: Master, moving stones around is one thing. This is totally different.
Yoda: No. No different. Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned.
Luke: All right, I'll give it a try.
Yoda: No. Try not. Do… or do not. There is no try."
