This Thesis Template is prepared based on the recent Thesis, Dissertation, Project Paper, and Research Paper Format Guidelines prepared by the Postgraduates Studies Unit, UUM College of Business. This template is prepared in Microsoft Word Document (.docx) and Microsoft Word Template (.dotx) format. Among the features included in this template are:
1. Use of the Navigation Pane
To open the Navigation pane, click View > Navigation Pane. This feature allows you to organize your thesis and see the document map and browse the document by headings and sub-headings. Additionally, this pane also can be used to search any words in your document.
2. Create Automatic Numbering for Headings and Sub-Headings
This feature allows the numbering to be automatically applied according to the heading or sub-heading for the topic designed in your thesis. You will also notice that the item will be automatically added to the navigation pane accordingly.
3. Auto-Generated Table/Figure Numbering in Text
In order to use this function, you just need to copy the Table/Figure label in the template and then paste it into the location where you want it to be located. And then, right-click the number of the label of the Table/Figure and then click Update Field. Your Table/Figure number will automatically be numbered according to the chapter number and the sequence of the Table/Figure within the chapter. Note: The hidden numbering in the chapter heading must not be deleted. Otherwise, this function will not work.
4. Auto-Generated Table of Contents
You can just go to the Table of Contents (TOC) and then right-click the content, and then Update Field. You can choose to (1) update page number only if there are no headings been added to your text or (2) update entire table if there are some changes with the headings or sub-headings. The TOC will then need to be adjusted manually if you want to customize it a little bit i.e. in deleting the numbering in each chapter heading, adjusting the paragraph etc.
5. Auto-Generated List of Tables
Similar to the Table of Content, the List of Tables also can be automatically generated using the same method. Just go to the List of Tables section, and then right-click the content, and then Update Field.
6. Auto-Generated List of Figures
Similar to the Table of Content, the List of Figures also can be automatically generated using the same method. Just go to the List of Figures section, and then right-click the content, and then Update Field.
